In Memphis, The Commercial Appeal daily newspaper reports ". . .the U.S. Senate, . . . passed a bill on a 95-0 vote on Thursday that will help unemployed veterans. If approved by the U.S. House, the legislation will help some of the 240,000 jobless veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
The bill increases the tax credit for hiring disabled veterans to $9,600. It also would create new tax credits of up to $5,600 for employers hiring veterans who have been looking for work for at least half a year and $2,400 for employers who hire veterans out of work for four weeks or more."
