Preparations were underway Friday afternoon for the St. Judes Benefit Cycle Ride. Numerous Bicycle shops from around Memphis had tents in Tom Lee Park as the cyclists gathered for the relay ride on this gorgeous day. It is easy to access the park where spacious sidewalks make for easy riding by going through the parking lot at the old Rivermont at Riverside and Georgia on to the path, rather than riding down Riverside itself which was blocked to car traffic due to the race.

Even with Madison cycle lanes from Cooper to Cleveland, a preferred route to the scenic riverside park paths along the Mississippi River and to the businesses and cafes along Main Street has yet to be determined.
Politicians and Madison Merchants Speak at Rally
Some wonder if the Mayor is getting the message about the opportunities safe bike lanes create for the city, such as reducing air pollution and drawing more cyclists to Memphis.
Rally Riders Arrive at Memphis City Hall
About forty cyclists made the trek from Midtown all the way down Madison (about 3.5 miles) to the City Hall Plaza.
